Introduction
The BroadPort 550 range of products provides an effective solution to monitoring and
controlling a large number and wide range of serial based peripherals in a broadcast studio.
An 8 and 16 port uPCI card with it's 1U 19" rack-mount interface provides RS-422
connections via 'Sony DB9' (SMPTE 207M) connectors.
There is no need to add further adapters as you would with a standard IT product.
A 16 port changeover unit allows rapid swapping of the peripherals from a duty server
to standby server.
BroadPort 550 uPCI Card
The universal PCI card (PCI and PCI-x) is developed from the popular RocketPort 550
and provides a low-cost serial expansion solution, delivering the highest performance
and reliability through industry standard 16550 UART technology.
Each of the ports exceed the speed requirements of the SMPTE 207M standard and
can be set individually to DCE or DTE.
BroadPort 550 Interface
The BroadPort 550 controller is connected to the 1U 19" passive rack interface via a
SCSI cable (provided).
The interface is ideal for where rack space is limited; it is only 50mm deep.
DB9 female connectors allow easy attachment of broadcast standard peripherals.
