Defence Industry Systems Standard

HF (High Frequency) radio is the dominant communications medium in defence, being used for both long-distance applications, such as "ship to shore" communications and tactical field radios.

Stanag 5066 is an international NATO developed public standard for HF data communications. It provides a general, open, and interoperable system for data communications over HF radio. NATO mandates products based on STANAG 5066 protocol for all new HF data communication systems procured by member countries.
Comtrol worked closely with the UK Defence Research Association to provide a range of products supporting Stanag 5066. The cards and software provide an easy to implement programming interface for defence industry companies wishing to provide PC based Stanag 5066 systems.
