High Speed Multiport Connectivity – The easiest way to add COM ports to your PC System.

The RocketPort family of serial boards are more powerful, more reliable, easier to install and more cost effective than anything else on the market.

When installed in a Universal PCI (uPCI), PCI or ISA slot of a PC, RocketPort can transmit and receive up to 230, 460 or 920 Kbps full duplex across all its ports simultaneously, depending on the model chosen. This means significantly greater amounts of data can be transferred enabling more work to be accomplished in a shorter time. In addition host CPU utilisation is minimised to allow more system resources to be available for running existing software applications.

This is brought about by the use of a dedicated on board 36 or 44MHz processor to ensure consistent application of power to each port. The use of I/O mapping eliminates memory mapping conflicts, making the RocketPort simple to install. The latest ASIC technology ensures the most reliable serial I/O performance.

The RocketPort family covers a wide range of controllers from 4 ports to 32 ports and has interface options including RS232, RS422 and RS485.

You can choose from 4, 8, 16 and 32 port versions of the Universal PCI RocketPort uPCI controllers..

RocketPort Quadcable & Octacable are available in uPCi form factors and use fan out cables terminating in DB25, DB9 or RJ45 connectors. The uPCi controller is available with RS232 or RS422 serial interfaces. Baud rates up to 460.8Kbps are supported ( controller dependent). No additional interface is needed.

RocketPort RJ is available in uPCI form factor. The serial interface uses RJ style connectors. The 4 port controller uses RJ45 connectors and the 8 port controller uses RJ11 connectors. No additional interface is needed.

RocketPort is available as an 8, 16 or 32 port uPCI controller. A separate interface is required (see below). This product can operate at baud rates of up to 230Kbps.

RocketPort SMPTE is a uPCi controller designed specifically for the broadcast industry where seriall connectivity is via the SMPTE 207M interface and RS422.

RocketPort+ is a uPCi controller and has been developed to give 920Kbps full duplex across all eight of its ports. The controllers are available with DB25 or DB9 connectors. No additional interface is required.

Interfaces are needed with most RocketPort products to connect the controller to the various serial devices. The standard interface box has DB25 female connectors which can be selected to operate as RS232/422 using a small external switch adjacent to the port.

We also have Rack Mounted Interfaces, available as RS-232 or RS4-22 for 16 port controllers and a Rack Mounted RS-232 unit for 32 port controllers. These terminate in RJ45 connectors and are 1U high.
