The OmniConverter 10G/M is a managed, compact Ethernet switch featuring two 1/10G uplink ports and four or eight 10/100/1000 RJ-45 copper user ports, allowing for network distance extension via fibre or copper cabling.

This Layer 2 Ethernet switch forwards frames based on their MAC addresses.

With Directed Switch mode, the OmniConverter 10G/M directs multicast traffic (e.g., video) to the appropriate uplink port, preventing multicast video from flooding other network ports.

The switch supports redundant uplinks, industrial ring Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP), Spanning Tree protocol, and daisy-chain configurations, ensuring high availability in industrial network applications.

In Dual Device mode, the 10G/M operates as two independent Ethernet switches, offering separate data paths between each uplink port and user port group.

Configuration is simple with accessible DIP-switches, or through Web, Telnet, SSH, SNMPv1/v2c/v3, or Serial Console management interfaces. These interfaces support IPv4 and IPv6, and offer filtering and security options such as broadcast storm prevention, IGMP, IEEE 802.1x, RADIUS, TACACS+, and Access Control Lists. Email notifications and alarm reporting are also supported.

The OmniConverter switches feature Small Form Pluggable (SFP) transceiver receptacle ports compatible with 10/100/1000BASE-T, 1000BASE-T, and 10GBASE-T copper transceivers, as well as 1G and 10G multimode or single-mode fibre, dual or single-fibre, and standard, CWDM, and DWDM wavelengths.

Compact and versatile, the OmniConverter 10G/M switches can be wall-mounted, rack-mounted on a shelf, or DIN-rail mounted using DIN-rail clips. Power options include 2-Pin DC Terminal or external 100-240V AC adapters.

Dual Device Mode Application

This Dual Device feature is extremely useful when two isolated networks domains share a single network distribution location.

The example below depicts a scenario where the Administration (green) network and the Engineering (purple) network are sharing a single hub distribution location. Using the two uplinks and the Dual Switch mode facilitates using a single switch driving both the Administration and the Engineering workstations while maintaining isolation between the networks.

Daisy Chain Application

This example demonstrates the daisy chaining and ring capabilities of the OmniConverter. In this application each OmniConverter switch connects to its neighboring switches via its uplink ports eventually closing the ring. The OmniConverter switches are providing connectivity between the workstations and the router.

Using this network architecture combined with ring protection protocols such as Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) or Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) facilitates a highly resilient network required in mission critical applications.
