10/100 RJ-45 to Fast Ethernet Fibre Media Converter
The FlexPoint 10/100 is a versatile 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX fiber media converter that ensures reliable and economical network connectivity and fiber extension.
It boasts a 10/100 auto-sensing RJ-45 port that adapts to the highest performance level of the connected device. A manual override switch allows for control over the RJ-45 port’s 10/100 operation and the duplex settings of both the fiber and RJ-45 ports.
For auto-negotiation, the RJ-45 port can automatically identify and execute MDI/MDI-X crossover. Alternatively, the FlexPoint 10/100 offers a manual switch for MDI/MDI-X crossover settings.
The fiber port accommodates fixed-fiber connectors (SC, ST, or LC) and Small Form Pluggable (SFP) transceivers, facilitating compatibility with various fiber types, distances, and wavelengths. The FlexPoint 10/100 is compatible with multimode, single-mode, and single-fiber single-mode in standard, CWDM, and DWDM wavelengths.
Manual switches and LED indicators, clearly labeled, simplify configuration for legacy systems or specific network needs. LEDs display power status, port activity, link status, as well as speed and duplex modes.
FlexPoint modules can be wall-mounted, DIN-rail mounted, or rack-mounted in a 5-Module shelf or a 14-Module power-redundant Powered Chassis.
Modules in the 5-Module shelf or standalone units can be powered via an external AC to DC power adapter, a 2-pin DC terminal connector, or a 5VDC chassis connector. Standalone modules may also utilize an external DC power supply ranging from 18-60VDC. Within a 14-Module Powered Chassis, modules are powered through the 5VDC chassis connector, with any combination of AC and DC power supplies used.
FlexPoint units have a wide variety of mounting and power options, which provide a flexible upgrade path as project requirements grow.

In this example of an enterprise campus application, FlexPoint 10/100 media converters are utilized within a 14-Module Redundant Power chassis to facilitate high-density fibre distribution from UTP switch gear at the Network Core. A UTP workgroup switch, labelled as (A), is linked through fibre to a standalone FlexPoint 10/100 media converter. Additionally, another FlexPoint 10/100 media converter is employed to transition from fibre to UTP in a fibre-to-desktop scenario, indicated as (B). Furthermore, an Ethernet switch, referred to as (C), is directly connected via fibre to the FlexPoint module at the Network Core. For all connections, either multimode or single-mode fibre may be used, with the capability to extend fibre links up to 120 kilometers using single-mode fibre.
