FlexPoint™ FL/2
10Mbps Coax to Fibre Media Converter
The FlexPoint 10FL/2 is a media converter that transitions 10BASE-FL fibre to 10BASE-2 coax, enabling the extension of coax segments through fibre.
Manual configuration is not required, as the FlexPoint 10FL/2 is plug and play. Simply connect the fibre and cox cables and the installation is complete.
The fibre port, operating at either 850nm or 1310nm, includes ST connectors. Multimode fibre models can support distances up to 5km, while single-mode models can reach up to 30km.
Featuring a BNC connector, the coax port supports 50 ohm cabling for lengths up to 185m. It allows for the connection of up to 30 workstations to the coax segment, with a termination switch for easy 50 ohm termination.
On board LEDs indicate power availability, port activity, link status, polarity reversal detection and correction, as well as collisions and jabbers.
FlexPoint modules offer versatile mounting options, including wall, DIN rail, or rack-mounting in a 5-module shelf or a high-density 14-module, power redundant chassis.

This application example shows a FlexPoint 10FL/2 media converter used to connect a turnstile that is located beyond the distance supported by the existing coax infrastructure.
The turnstile could be located in areas such as Airports, Stadiums, Amusement Parts, Ski Resorts for example.
At the head end, the FlexPoint 10FL/T fibre to copper media is used to convert the copper connection from the network switch to fibre.
At the turnstile end, a FlexPoint 10FL/2 converts the fibre to coax, and connects to the turnstile.
The network switch gathers data from the turnstile, allowing or denying entry.
