Baud Rate Autosensing RS-232 to Fibre Media Converter
The FlexPoint 232 is a RS-232 to fibre media converter, providing reliable and cost-effective fibre extension for RS-232 serial connections.
FlexPoint 232 supports async RS-232 interface speeds up to 115,200 baud, and RTS, CTS, DCD, DTR and DSR hardware flow control signals, and has a switch for DTE/DCE selection.
The fibre port operates at 1310nm and features ST, SC or LC connectors, with Multimode distances of up to 5km and single-mode distances up to 60km supported.
On board LED indicators report availability of power, DTE/DCE selection, fibre loopback status, port activity and link status.
FlexPoint modules can be wall mounted, DIN rail mounted, or rack-mounted in a 5 module shelf or high density 14 module, power redundant power chassis.

A pair of FlexPoint 232 modules are used here to provide a serial connection between the PC and the Terminal server over a fibre link.
Multimode or Single-mode fibre can be used, and the fibre links can be extended up to 60km using single-mode fibre.
