10/100/1000 Copper to 100/1000X Fiber Ethernet Media Converter
The FlexPoint GX/T is a media converter that transitions 10/100/1000BASE-T copper to 1000BASE-X fiber and accommodates jumbo frames up to 10,240 bytes. It is equipped with Small Form Pluggable (SFP) transceivers, facilitating both 100BASE-FX and 1000BASE-X compatibility for Gigabit and Fast Ethernet fiber networks. These transceivers also allow for flexibility across various fiber types, speeds, distances, and support for CWDM and DWDM wavelengths.
Additionally, the FlexPoint GX/T is compatible with ST, SC, and LC connectors, and offers fixed fiber connectors for multimode, single-mode, and single-mode single-fiber models.
Both the fiber and RJ-45 ports are capable of auto-negotiation to secure the optimal mode of operation (speed, duplex mode, and Pause mode) between connected devices. This auto-negotiation can be manually overridden using DIP-switches on the device, which is particularly useful when paired with non-negotiating devices requiring manual configuration.
The device’s network flow control is managed by the Pause function, which can be set automatically or manually to mitigate network congestion on both RJ-45 and fiber ports. When activated, the Pause function sends a signal to the link partner to decelerate data transmission during network congestion.
For ease of installation and troubleshooting, the GX/T includes various testing and fault detection tools. It supports Port Loop-Back, IEEE-defined Far-End-Fault, and Link Fault bit as Remote Fault indicators. Upon detecting link faults, the GX/T generates a remote fault indicator, visible via the LED status display. Users can configure DIP-switches to propagate these indicators or link modes to the opposite port on the GX/T, alerting connected devices to the fault.
The unit also features diagnostic status LED indicators to aid in network installation and troubleshooting.
The FlexPoint GX/T supports a voltage input range of 5 to 32V DC, and can be standalone, surface mounted, wall mounted or DIN rail mounted.
A 5 module shelf or high density 14-Module, power redundant chassis is also available.

In this example of an enterprise application, FlexPoint GX/T media converters are utilized to link various generations of network components across a campus. A legacy 100 Mbps fibre switch (A) is connected directly to a UTP Gigabit switch via a FlexPoint GX/T that has a 100 Mbps SFP transceiver. For a fibre-to-desktop application (B), FlexPoint GX/T converters are deployed at both ends to facilitate 10/100/1000 copper-to-fibre conversion. Additionally, a UTP Gigabit Ethernet switch (C) is connected through fibre back to the main distribution centre using the FlexPoint GX/T. Multimode, single-mode, or single-mode single-fibre options are available for use in all scenarios.
