miConverter™ 10/100 & 10/100 Plus

10/100Base-Tx to 100Base-Fx Ethernet Media Converters

miConverter 10/100

The miConverter 10/100 and miConverter 10/100 Plus are miniature 10/100 RJ-45 to 100Base-FX fibre media converters, providing cost-effective copper to fibre connectivity solutions.
With their size, portability and low power consumption, they are the ideal solution for mission-critical field diagnostic applications, as well as fibre to the desktop / laptop deployments.

With the optional USB power adaptor cable, you can remove the need to tether the miConverter to an electrical outlet, having it powered by the computers USB port.

The RJ-45 port supports auto-negotiation and auto-crossover, and the 100Mbps fibre port operates in Full-Duplex mode.
Single and Multimode fibre are supported, along with ST or SC fibre connectors.
Multimode models support distances up to 5KM, and singlemode up to 120km.
Single fibre models support distances up to 50km.

Manual configuration of the unit is available using DIP switches, allowing configuration of the speed and duplex mode of the copper port, and configuration of Link Modes, with Link Segment, Link Propagate, Remote Fault Detection and Symmetrical Fault Detection all supported.

The miConverter models can be standalone, or mounted in the 18-module power chassis to consolidate individual modules into a rack-mount form factor that can be deployed where multiple fibre-optic links are distributed from UTP switch equipment.

An Ethernet Enterprise network with a start topology is shown below, providing multiple fibre links to remote buildings.

3 copper UTP links from a core copper switch are converted to fibre links using the miConverter units mounted in an 18-module chassis.

These fibre links run to remote buildings, where the fibre at each location is then converted back to copper using standalone miConverter units.
