The miConverter 10/100 PoE/D is a miniature 10/100 RJ-45 to 100Base-FX fibre media converter, that can be powered with Power over Ethernet (PoE) when connected to PoE switches and midspans.
It can also be powered with DC or AC power with an external power adapter, providing cost-effective copper to fibre connectivity solutions.
With its size, portability and low power consumption, it is the ideal solution for mission-critical field diagnostic applications, as well as fibre to the desktop / laptop deployments.
The RJ-45 port supports auto-negotiation and auto-crossover, and the 100Mbps fibre port operates in Full-Duplex mode.
Single and Multimode fibre are supported, along with ST, SC, LC and SFP fibre connectors.
Multimode models support distances up to 5KM, and singlemode up to 120km.
Single fibre models support distances up to 50km.
Manual configuration of the unit is available using DIP switches, allowing configuration of the speed and duplex mode of the copper port, and configuration of Link Modes, with Link Segment, Link Propagate, Remote Fault Detection and Symmetrical Fault Detection all supported.
The miConverter models can be standalone, or mounted in the 18-module power chassis to consolidate individual modules into a rack-mount form factor that can be deployed where multiple fibre-optic links are distributed from UTP switch equipment.

Fibre Distance Extension with PoE
PoE switches provide power and data via copper UTP cabling to devices such as VoIP phone, Wi-Fi Access Points and IP Cameras.
The example below shows the miConverter 10/100 PoE/D deployed to enable plug-and-play fibre connectivity from PoE switches.
The miConverter 10/100 PoE/D is powered by a UTP patch cable and converts the copper to fibre to connect to a remote PoE IP camera.
At the end of the fibre, an OmniConverter PoE power-sourcing media converter converts the fibre back to copper, and injects PoE (up to 60W) to power the camera.
