The miConverter GX/T is an unmanaged miniature 10/100/1000Base-T copper to 1000Base-X fibre industial media converter, supporting jumbo frames.
Ideal for fibre to the desktop / laptop deployments, the GX/T is a proven cost-effective solution for under the desk and mission-critical field diagnostic applications.
The miConverter GX/T fibre connection options include ST, SC and LC fixed fibre connectors, or SFP transceivers, enabling you to use different data rates, fibre types and wavelengths, including Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) wavelengths to increase the bandwidth capacity of fibre infrastructure.
Deployments are simplified with the plug and play capability – both the fibre and RJ45 ports support auto-negotiation to achieve the best possible mode of operation between the devices.
Auto-negotiation can also be disabled on both ports for manual configuration using DIP-switches on the module, which is useful when the GX/T is connected to a non-negotiating device and the configuration parameters must be set manually.
Network flow control on both the RJ45 and Fibre ports is managed using the Pause function – sending out a pause signal to its link partner, instructing it to slow down data transmission, preventing network congestion.
Link fault conditions are reported via a DIP switch configured LED, and visual diagnostic information is also provided through LED indicators to assist in network installation and maintenance.
The miConverter GX/T Industrial Media Converter supports AC or DC external power options, via an external universal power adapter or 2-pin terminal connection.
An 18-module powered chassis is also available to consolidate individual modules into a rack-mount form factor.

This example shows an Ethernet network with a star topology, providing multiple fibre links to remote buildings.
At the core switch, miConverter units are mounted in a chassis, and individual miConverters are located at each building to convert the fibre signal back to copper.
The miConverter can also be used in a fibre to the desk application as shown below.
Power to the miConverter is provided via the laptop’s USB (1 or 2) port, and UTP connection allows the laptops Ethernet port to be connected to the incoming fibre signal.
