The OmniConverter GXPoE+/S and GXHPoE/S are unmanaged gigabit PoE Extenders designed to extend Ethernet data and Power over Ethernet (PoE) beyond the typical 100-meter limit of twisted pair copper cabling.

These PoE Extenders provide a cost-effective solution for extending connectivity to remote PoE devices where external power is unavailable or difficult to provision, and where replacing copper with fiber is cost-prohibitive.

The OmniConverter PoE Extenders support 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet and function as both Powered Devices (PD) and Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), eliminating the need for external AC power. They feature one PoE/PD port and one or two PoE/PSE ports and can be powered by an IEEE 802.3at or High-Power (HPoE) 60W power source, such as an OmniConverter GHPoEBT/Sx or GHPoEBT/M PSE switch.

With their data regeneration and voltage boosting capabilities, these extenders can be daisy-chained to surpass the Ethernet copper distance barrier, delivering 10/100/1000 data and power to multiple PoE powered devices.

To combat voltage drop due to cable resistance, the OmniConverter PoE Extenders employ Smart Voltage-Boosting Technology to maintain standard-compliant PoE voltage levels between hops.

The extenders automatically negotiate and deliver the necessary power level to connected Powered Devices (PD). For data-only applications, such as connecting a laptop, the extenders ensure no power is applied.

The OmniConverter PoE Extenders are plug-and-play devices supporting auto-negotiation of data rates and duplex modes, simplifying in-line installation to extend network distances instantly. They become fully operational when a PSE is connected to the PoE/PD port, displaying power and operational status even without a PD attached, facilitating installation and troubleshooting.

These extenders can be mounted on walls, racks, or DIN-rails using the optional DIN-rail mounting clip kit.

Basic PoE Extender Application

This example shows an OmniConverter PoE Extender powering an 802.3at PoE camera, and achieving a distance of 200 meters (656 feet) between an 802.3at PoE PSE switch and the camera.


PoE Extender with Two Powered Devices Application

This example shows an OmniConverter PoE Extender with two PoE/PSE ports powering an 802.3af camera and an 802.3at Wi-Fi Access Point 200 meters from the HPoE 60W PoE PSE switch.
