The OmniConverter GPoE+/S are PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) multiport Ethernet media converters, featuring one or two uplink ports, and one or two 10/100/1000 RJ-45 PoE+ user ports.
Providing PoE+ power up to 30W, the OmniConverter GPoE+/S supports frame sizes up to 10,240 bytes, and the uplink ports can be fixed fibre, SFP or 10/100/1000 RJ-45 copper ports.
Redundant fibre uplinks are supported in models with two fibre ports – ideal for critical applications that require protection and restoration in the event of a fibre failure. The second fibre port can also be used to connect multiple media converters.
Dual Device Mode is also supported, enabling the OmniConverter GPoE+/S to operate as two independent and isolated Ethernet Media Converters. In this mode, the GPoE+/S provides independent and separate data traffic paths between the two uplink ports and two user ports.
Link modes and PoE power reset functions are configurable features that, if enabled allow the connected PD device to be rebooted remotely – eliminating the need for costly site visits. When a problem with the powered device is detected, the fibre ports on the module can be disconnected, triggering the PoE reset function.
Network administrators can also be notified of network outages by configuring the link modes to propogate loss of link faults to managed devices.
The OmniConverter GPoE+/S support 100Mbps fixed fibre, and 100/1000Mbps SFP transceiver receptacles, easily enabling adaptability to different fibre types, distances and wavelengths. The GPoE+/S also supports 10/100/1000 SGMII or 1Gbps SERDES copper transceivers along with CWDM and DWDM fibre transceivers in a variety of distances and fibre types.
The GPoE+/S can be desktop, wall or DIN rail mounted (using the optional DIN-rail mounting kit). They can also be mounted on a 1U 19″ rack-mount shelf.
Power options are DC input power via terminal connectors, or an external 100 – 240V AC power adapter.

Daisy Chain Application
By connecting via uplink ports, the OmniConverter media converters can be used in daisy-chain applications.
Each OmniConverter media converter provides connectivity to the fibre ports, and power to PD devices at each location along the daisy chain.
Dual Device Mode Application
When two isolated network domains share a single network distribution location, the Dual Device feature is extremely useful.
The example below demonstrates this where a surveillance security network (shown in green) and a Wi-Fi network (shown in purple) are sharing a single distribution location.
Using the two uplinks and the Dual Switch mode facilitates using a single PoE media converter driving both the Cameras and Wi-Fi Access Points while maintaining isolation between the networks.
