The RuggedNet 10G/Mi is a ruggedized, managed industrial Ethernet switch offering two 1/10G uplink ports and four or eight 10/100/1000 RJ-45 user ports. It facilitates industrial network distance extension via fiber or copper cabling.
As a Layer 2 Ethernet switch, the RuggedNet 10G/Mi routes frames to ports based on MAC addresses.
It features a Directed Switch mode that channels multicast traffic, like video, solely to designated uplink ports, preventing overflow to other ports.
The device supports redundant uplinks, Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP), Spanning Tree protocol, and daisy-chain setups for robust industrial network applications.
Its Dual Device mode allows the 10G/Mi to function as two separate Ethernet switches, providing distinct data paths between each uplink port and associated user ports.
Operational modes are configurable via DIP-switches or through Web, Telnet, SSH, SNMPv1/v2c/v3, or Serial Console interfaces, with support for both IPv4 and IPv6. These interfaces offer access to various filtering and security features, including broadcast storm prevention, IGMP, IEEE 802.1x, RADIUS, TACACS+, and Access Control Lists, along with email notifications and alarm reporting.
The switches come with Small Form Pluggable (SFP) transceiver receptacle ports, compatible with 10/100/1000BASE-T, 1000BASE-T, and 10GBASE-T copper transceivers, as well as 1G and 10G multimode or single-mode fiber, dual or single-fiber, and standard, CWDM, and DWDM wavelengths.
An alarm relay is present for detecting user-specified events, with configurable contacts for normally open or closed operations. Additionally, there is an input for external event detection, such as an open door.
The RuggedNet switches can be wall, rack or DIN-Rail mounted, and area available with dual DC power inputs.

Dual Device Mode Application
The Dual Device feature proves highly beneficial for two separate network domains that utilize a common network distribution point.
In the illustrated scenario, the Quality Control (green) network and the Manufacturing (purple) network converge at a single hub distribution site. Employing dual uplinks and the Dual Switch mode enables a solitary switch to manage both the Quality Control and Manufacturing devices, all the while preserving network segregation.
Daisy-Chain and Ring Topology Network Application
This scenario illustrates the daisy-chaining and ring functionalities of RuggedNet switches. In this setup, each RuggedNet switch is connected to adjacent switches through its uplink ports, forming a closed ring. The switches facilitate connectivity between workstations and the router. Employing this network structure along with ring protection protocols like Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) or Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) ensures a robust network essential for mission-critical applications.
